Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Sheetio Android app ("Sheetio", "the app"), made by appalloo ("we", "us"), handles your information.

1. Files you open

Sheetio opens the spreadsheet files you choose: with its Open button, by tapping a file in another app (such as your file manager, email or a messaging app), or by sharing a file to Sheetio. Android gives Sheetio access to that one file only. Sheetio does not request the storage permission and cannot browse your other files.

To display a file, Sheetio reads it on your device with its own code. A working copy is kept in the app's private cache while the file is open, and is replaced by the next file you open. Android may also clear the cache at any time.

If a file is password-protected, Sheetio asks for its password and uses it only to open that file, on your device. The password is never saved or sent anywhere, so you are asked for it again each time you open the file. Private copies kept for the recent files list stay encrypted, just like the original.

2. Recent files

The home screen lists up to 10 files you opened recently, with their names, sizes and when you opened them. This list is stored in the app's private storage on your device.

• If the app that provided the file allows it, Sheetio keeps permission to reopen the file from its original location.
• Otherwise, for example for an email attachment, Sheetio keeps a private copy of the file (up to 50 MB) in its own storage, so you can reopen it later.
• Removing a file from the list, or tapping Clear, deletes its private copy and gives back the permission. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored.

Sheetio turns off Android's app backup and device transfer, so the recent files list and private copies are never uploaded to a cloud backup or copied to a new phone.

3. Sharing and printing

• Share: when you tap Share, Sheetio gives the app you pick temporary, read-only access to that one file. What that app does with the file is covered by its own privacy policy.
• Print or save as PDF: Sheetio uses Android's system print dialog. The pages are created on your device and handed to the printer or PDF option you choose. If you choose a cloud printer or save the PDF to a cloud service, that service's privacy policy applies.
• Copy: long-pressing a cell copies its value to your device's clipboard, where other apps you use may be able to read it.

4. Information sent off your device

None. Sheetio has no internet permission and contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code. It does not use the advertising ID.

The More apps screen can open Google Play to show our other apps. That happens in the Google Play app or your web browser, under Google's privacy policy, and only when you tap a link.

5. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use them only to reply to you and to provide support. We do not add you to mailing lists, and we do not share your message with anyone. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to help you and to keep a short support history, and then deleted. They are deleted sooner if you ask.

6. What we do not do

• We do not collect, sell, rent or trade your information.
• We do not show ads or use the advertising ID.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not ask you to create an account.

7. Your choices and rights

• You can remove any file from the recent files list, or clear the whole list, at any time. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on your device.
• Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information. Because Sheetio collects nothing, the only information we may hold is the emails you send us. To use these rights, email us.

8. Security

Everything Sheetio stores is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Files are shared with another app only when you tap Share, and only that one file. No method of storage is completely secure, but because your information never leaves your device through Sheetio, it is as protected as your device itself.

9. Children

Sheetio is not directed at children under 13, and it does not collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
