This policy explains how the Fadio Android app ("Fadio", "the app"), made by appalloo ("we", "us"), handles your information. Fadio is a temporary camera: the photos you take are stored privately inside the app and delete themselves when they expire.
In short
- We don't collect your data. Fadio has no server to send it to, and it has no internet access.
- Your photos and notes stay inside the app on your device. They don't appear in your gallery and aren't included in device backups or transfers.
- Photos delete themselves when they expire. They then wait in the Bin for 48 hours, and after that they're gone for good.
- There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no account, and we don't sell your data.
- A photo leaves the app only when you choose to: "Keep" saves it to your gallery, and "Share" sends it to the app you pick.
1. What stays on your device
- Photos you take with Fadio, and small thumbnails of them, kept in the app's private storage. Other apps can't read them.
- Notes you add to a photo.
- Photo details: when each photo was taken, when it expires, whether you pinned it to the widget, and when it was moved to the Bin.
- Settings: your default expiry time, whether the daily reminder and the app lock are on, the expiry you chose for each Quick capture widget, and a few flags, such as whether you've seen the welcome screens and how many photos you've taken (this count only decides when a card about our other apps appears).
Fadio doesn't add your location to photos.
Your photos, thumbnails, notes and photo details are excluded from Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. If you lose your device or uninstall Fadio, they're gone. Your settings may be included in your Android backup, which is handled by Google under Google's privacy policy. They contain no photos and no notes.
2. When photos are deleted
- When a photo expires, Fadio moves it to the Bin. This happens on your device, also while the app is closed.
- Photos in the Bin are deleted for good after 48 hours. You can restore them before then, or delete them right away.
- "Delete" in the app also moves a photo to the Bin. "Delete for good" and "Empty bin" remove it at once.
- Uninstalling Fadio deletes all of its photos and data immediately, including the Bin. Photos you saved with "Keep" are in your gallery and stay there.
3. Permissions
- Camera: to take photos. Fadio uses the camera only while its camera screen is open.
- Notifications (optional, Android 13 and later): for one quiet daily reminder when photos are about to expire. Fadio asks only after explaining this, and you can turn the reminder off in Settings.
- Storage (Android 8 and 9 only): to save a photo to your gallery when you tap "Keep". Newer Android versions need no permission for this.
- Biometrics (optional): if you turn on the app lock, Android checks your fingerprint, face or screen lock. Fadio never sees or stores your biometric data; it only learns whether unlocking succeeded.
Android also gives Fadio a few technical permissions that ask you nothing, such as running the expiry check in the background and after your device restarts.
Fadio doesn't ask for internet access and can't read the photos in your gallery.
4. Home screen widgets and the app lock
The "Latest photo" and "Next to fade" widgets show your photos, their countdowns and notes on your home screen, where anyone holding your unlocked phone can see them. If you turn on the app lock, the widgets hide photos and notes and show only the countdown, and on Android 13 and later the app's preview in the recent apps list stays blank.
5. What other services see
- Apps you share with: when you tap "Share", the app you choose receives the photo. That app's privacy policy applies.
- Your gallery: when you tap "Keep", Fadio saves a copy to your device's Pictures/Fadio folder and deletes its own copy. From then on the photo is a normal gallery photo, and apps or services that back up your gallery (such as Google Photos) may upload it.
- Email: when you tap "Contact us", your email app opens with a message that includes the app version, Android version and device model, so we can help you. You can edit or remove them before sending.
- Links: our privacy policy, terms and other apps open in your web browser or the Google Play app, only when you tap them. Those services' privacy policies apply.
6. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use them only to reply to you and to provide support. We do not add you to mailing lists, and we do not share your message with anyone. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to help you and to keep a short support history, and then deleted. They are deleted sooner if you ask.
7. What we do not do
- We do not collect, sell, rent or trade your information.
- We do not show ads or use analytics or the advertising ID.
- We do not track you, in the app or across other apps and websites.
- We do not ask you to create an account.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information. Because Fadio sends us nothing, the only information we may hold is the emails you send us. To use these rights, email us. For data held by another service listed above, contact that service.
9. Children
Fadio isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, because the app doesn't send us any. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
